Program Assistant

Role Overview:
As the Program Assistant, you will primarily provide program support for Surge Africa’s operations. On a secondary note, you will handle administrative tasks such as assisting with hiring, expense tracking and Human Resources. Read more here. This role is fully remote.
Responsibilities:
Assists in organising programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organisation
Assists team members in preparing and formatting documents, including Slides/PowerPoint presentations
Continuously reviews and improves program evaluation, delivery and methodologies
Develops and maintains an efficient filing system for the team, including assistance in processing applications for proposals as required and maintains a tracking system of responses to proposals
Maintaining office calendars and sending out reminders of impending appointments
Coordinates the translation, proofreading and editing of documents as required
Assists in organising regular team meetings and conference calls/video conferences, including the preparation and distribution of documents
Attending staff meetings and taking minutes with the assistance of and coordination with the Program team as required
Assisting in managing the budget for special and routine events
Making reservations for various off-site business meetings and events
Relaying internal emails to staff
Assists in the orientation of new employees, providing them with the necessary documents and materials for orientation
Assists with payroll management
Performs other related duties in accordance with instructions from team members.
Skills and Qualifications:
3 years or more working experience in program support, administration and human resources
Effective skill in developing and executing both in-person engagements and online events
Competency in digital software and virtual workspaces
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
Ability to multitask and good hold of strong organisational skills
Polite, clear and compelling communication skills.
A good understanding of climate change and its landscape
