For the RISE Africa Action Festival 2024 themed ‘‘Solutions Only [Failures Also]’’, Surge Africa held an online session on ‘‘Intersecting Advocacy with Climate Governance’’, bringing together key stakeholders in governance and civil society to discuss effective strategies for CSOs to foster impact drivem collaboration with state actors and close the gap between advocacy and action.

The webinar, which held on Zoom, was an interactive sessions that aimed to examine key findings of Surge Africa’s published research analysis titled ‘‘Navigating a Just Transition Amidst Energy Poverty in Nigeria.’’ The webinar convened industry stakeholders to discuss transition scenarios that eradicates energy poverty and opportunities for a just economic and energy transition in Nigeria.

A one day webinar focused on navigating the just transition amidst energy poverty in Nigeria was conducted following a thorough research analysis. The session featured insightful perspectives from guest speaker, Zira Quaghe - Nigeria Program Officer at Africa Climate Foundation, addressing the multifaceted challenges and potential pathways for energy reform in Nigeria.

Women in Climate, an initiative of Surge Africa convened a network of women advocates on International Women’s Day to connect and informally exchange knowledge and strategies through networking and alliance building. The space hosted women leaders who have driven strategic change in their own domain, and will lead informal discussions on leadership, access and equality, and the importance of building your community in the space.

Surge Africa commemorated the International Women’s Day 2024 by hosting a loose networking event focusing on the theme Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress. The gathering convened women leaders/advocates from the climate and environmental sectors for the facilitation of an informal loose networking on leadership, access, equality, and community-building were central to the event's agenda.

The Northwest Commissioners Summit on Climate Change is a comprehensive one-day event aimed at promoting dialogue, collaboration, and fostering inter-state strategies in the North-Western region of Nigeria. The event will bring together respective State Commissioners and House Committee Chairmen on Environment and Climate Change from the seven Northwest states in Nigeria to deliberate on key issues that intersect climate change, sustainable development, and climate security. This critical step will help facilitate the development of state-level strategies and initiatives needed to advance climate change, adaptation and resilience.

The engagement is a significant event aimed at fostering dialogue, collaboration, and action on climate change among regional commissioners in Nigeria. The summit, attended by representatives from various Northwest states, endorsed the Kano Declaration on Climate Change and Environment.

A virtual workshop by expert practitioners on how to design policies that deliver lasting change

Surge Africa hosted the Design Workshop Series to disseminate the newly launched report and bring together key stakeholders to explore the concept of climate security and its dimensions in peace and conflict while promoting climate action and enhanced human security in Africa.

Hosted by Surge Africa Organization in partnership with Community Action for Food Security (CAFS), the webinar aimed to address various dimensions of food security, examine challenges, and highlight innovative solutions and best practices. By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, the webinar sought to drive social and strategic change, addressing the root causes of food insecurity and strengthening agricultural resilience.

Pre launch of the YMCC examined high points of the demands within the Manifesto, as well as next steps in terms of opportunities and areas of synergies the Manifesto opens both youth, government and other stakeholders ahead of the physical launch.
